Sean Riley & The Slowriders are not your typical musical phenomenon from the central Portuguese city of Coimbra. Their sound combines Americana with a touch of Velvet Underground, occasionally anthemic, and characterized by a sophisticated way of playing with pathos. The band was formed in 2006 around singer Afonso Rodrigues. They release albums every three to four years, which consistently reach the top of the Portuguese charts.
