Peace, happiness, expansiveness: that’s the emotional spectrum evoked when listening to the music of Blanco White. English-Welsh songwriting forms the foundation of his art, while Andalusian-Latin American traditions give it wings. Blanco White studied Spanish literature and music. He studied jazz and flamenco under the guidance of guitarist Nono García before going to Bolivia and learning to play the charango, a ten-stringed instrument of the lute family. It is precisely these acutely distinct rhythms within his compositions that open us up to a radically different understanding. In 2020, this sensitive musician released his debut album On the Other Side and has been a welcome guest at festivals around the world ever since.
