Foundation

The Zermatt Unplugged Foundation (ZUF) is a recognized non-profit foundation dedicated to promoting young artists. It devises and supports platforms that facilitate and develop the exchange of musical and artistic content.

The core aim of the foundation is to discover talented musicians at an early stage in order to promote them and support them in building their careers. In addition, ZUF develops and promotes platforms and formats that enable the communication ofmusic and culture to children, youths and young adults.

ZUF creates valuable opportunities for discovery and facilitates encounters between musicians and their audiences throughout the year, but most particularly during the Zermatt Unplugged festival. By establishing artist residencies, talent promotion/placement programs and platforms, as well as other cultural activities, ZUF promotes creative exchange and supports dialogue between the various players active in the music industry.

The focus is invariably on creating low-threshold access to music and offering all interested parties the opportunity to engage and connect with music as an art form.

Discovery Stages

The Discovery Stages, a platform primarily for national, but also internationalup-coming talents, have always been the focal point and thus an integral part of Zermatt Unplugged since its inception. This is where new musical discoveries can present themselves to a broad music-loving audience and benefit from the festival's extensive media attention. The festival setting offers an ideal platform for exchange and networking.

Kids and family formats

Organized in collaboration with various kid's and youth clubs from the region, the Playback Show is an integral part of the festival. In 2024, the Kids and Family Village was implemented as part of Zermatt Unplugged for the first time. Here, kids and youths are given low-threshold (free) and positive access to the festival and to musical content. The educational and promotional activities in this area will be expanded upon in the coming years.
