It’s the personal gestures that delight the fans of British musician James Bay, like giving guitar lessons live on Instagram during lockdown or playing to support small stages as part of the UK’s Independent Venue Week, which he’s currently doing. Looking back, he went from open mic night singer to Rolling Stones opener. And the awards have just rained down on James Bay since the release of his 2014 debut album Chaos And The Calm and his hit single Hold Back The River. The artist has evolved hugely since then: his 2018 album Electric Light was his most experimental and forceful to date. James is now working on his third album, a bluesy falsetto number set for release in 2022.
