A festival deep in the Valais mountains – reduced to what really counts.
Real music, culinary delights, hospitality in action and encounters that become friendships. No big effects, no frills.
That's Zermatt Unplugged.
What a start! The opening of the 16th edition was anything but ordinary. Never before have so many artists been on stage at the same time as on Tuesday evening. Swiss icon Stephan Eicher wowed the crowd together with the Swiss Orchestra, special guest Martin Suter and a host of other musical colleagues.
The reggae legends from UB40 delivered an energy-laden evening that revived the classics of yesteryear, including the hits Red Red Wine and Kingston Town.
Big-name artists and huge emotions were also had in more intimate surroundings:
The charismatic singer from The National, Matt Berninger, gave his first solo concert, while Samy Deluxe revealed a lesser-seen personal side. Both thrilled audiences at the Vernissage with their own brand of poetry and highly distinctive voices.
Sunshine, fresh sounds and a contagious spring feeling descended on the Discovery Stages that surround the Matterhorn. Tay Oskee, Linda Elys and Riley Pearce filled the stages with soft, warm sounds; Steiner & Madlaina, Nina Valotti and Melina Nora amazed with their characterful compositions performed in Swiss German; and the German-Luxembourgian trio Say Yes Dog and the Geneva-based duo Roshâni delivered danceable sounds and explosive beats in the Foyer Marquee.
You'll find the best of the last couple of days and everything that's happening live right now in Zermatt on our festival channels.
