Oh yeah, Mahalia. What a heavenly R&B voice from the United Kingdom this is. Each song is better than the last. The new album IRL is a massive hit. The sound is immediately addictive – and we already know now that this music is going to be beautiful performed acoustically, that Mahalia will blow us away with her voice, her tenderness, her presence. Mahalia, or angel baby + lover girl as she calls herself on Instagram, sang at open mic nights as a child, had her first record deal at 13, toured with Ed Sheeran and Emeli Sandé at 16. Despite reaching such heights, she remains a grounded artist who likes to take her time, developing herself and her music organically.
