It's an incredible energy that drives Canadian indie folk band The Franklin Electric. Shortly after forming in 2012, they won a notable Nashville competition. The band released two EPs and four albums, were nominated for Breakthrough Group of the Year at the Juno Awards, and toured with Mumford & Sons and Ben Howard. Not entirely innocent is probably the charisma of frontman Jon Matte, whose Irish Catholic home provided daily concerts in the form of house music – polyphonic, with acoustic guitar and fiddle. As Jon puts it, “I make honest music for ordinary people”. A better understatement to describe a music of universal truthfulness has not been heard in a long time.
